Community Groups

A great way to get involved at The Heights Baptist is to connect with a group. Community Groups are designed to give you an opportunity to make new friends and enjoy things that you currently love doing anyway (or have an interest in beginning). We have a wide variety of groups that meet throughout the area and range from sports and exercise to Bible studies, with just about everything in between. Set aside some time and get started by participating in one or more of the groups. And, while you are at it, invite a friend to come along with you. Community groups are not created to replace LIFE Groups, but rather are an additional way that you can grow in your Christian walk by spending some time with new and old friends who share something in common with you.

Prayers for Prodigals
Led by Stacy Riddle

This group is for those who long to see the Lord move in the life of a prodigal loved one. Church members who don’t have a prodigal loved one but would like to pray for those who do are also encouraged to join. We will meet monthly to pray over names of prodigals that have been submitted by group members and the greater Church family. Between meetings we will disperse names to members who are committed to praying at least weekly for their group of prodigals. We will encourage loved ones to inform us of any victories they have seen the Lord accomplish in their loved one’s lives so we can celebrate and praise God for what He is doing.

If you are divorced, currently separated, or considering divorce this class is for you. Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before. DivorceCare meets weekly on Monday nights from 6-8pm here at church to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. The format for the course is video and discussion driven. This is an open class meaning you are free to begin at any time during the series. Many people join us throughout the 13 weeks and just attend the classes they may have missed when the next session begins.

MEN

God’s Guys
Led by Tom Manson, Chuck Elliott, & Mike Deeb

The God’s Guys Community Group of The Heights Baptist exists to inspire our men to follow Jesus and show compassion to the 804 community and our church family. We are about providing the men of our church to show the love of Jesus Christ through both Bible Study and acts of service in our community. We accomplish our mission by coordinating monthly prayer breakfasts as well as community outreach projects. This includes feeding the low income living in hotels, Homeless, as well as showing respect and love to our first responders, teachers in others that serve us in the 804. In addition, we follow the command of Christ by caring for the widows and other members of our church families in their time of need. This often involves projects such as leaf removal, tree trimming, and other landscaping needs. Some projects can utilize as many as 20-25 men. We realize not everyone can join every project but encourage those who can attend to do so when they can assist. Please join us in growing in Christ and sharing his compassion by attending our opportunities to serve at The Heights!

Man Up Men’s Bible Study
Led by Ronnie West and Jim Henry

Bring your own coffee and join us for some fellowship and a short Bible study to get that mid-week charge. Our plan is to look at different men in scripture and see what we can learn from their lives. There is so much to be learned from every character and how they faced adversity and challenges. So, man up, and make it a habit to meet with other guys each Thursday, before you go to work. We will meet on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday mornings of each month at 7am.
